Some thoughts on «Arch Enemy» and their work.
I do admire Angela for her vocals and the Amott brothers for their playing, but the drums just take over at times.Daniel really excels in this album.As I listen to the new songs and compare them with what I heard in previous albums I realize how much they have grown.The voice is somewhat "naked" and "pure" in this work, as in other albums there has been more editing and voice mixing.After Chris came back, the band really got it on."Doomsday Machine" still remains my favourite, but I got to say that "Rise of the Tyrant" came very close. Having heard "Revolution Begins" live, I can bet you anything that it is just the fucking best song for anyone who likes screeching and growling.Johan Liiva had an exceptional voice, but he comes in no comparison with beautiful and fierce Angela Gossow.I just could not believe that such a fragile and innocent-looking girl can make so much noise!But it is true, as I saw her smile and wave at me and then turn into a vicious mistress.I admire her and her talent-not even a male is able to produce a perfect growl, and for a girl she does it pretty well.I believe that she inspires women everywhere to go out there and do their best in anything their heart feels like doing,she have broken boundaries of gender discrimination in heavy metal for which I am ever grateful to her.
I have been surprised to see some people's comments that the band is becoming "mainstream".Is our favourite Death Metal band really turning into a "blown up" promotion scam? I think that there is no need to fear,my fellow Arch Enemy lovers, they are not!Yes, the band became widely known around the world and is seen as a a beacon of hope for many young musicians out there,but by no means that has made AE into another boring heavy metal band that tries to get back its former glory.Even though they are on the surface of international heavy metal community-they remain truthful to their style and their music.
They have risen to the heights unknown to most bands and remain there for a long time.Long live Arch Enemy!
